PSVR2 Just Got Its Killer App with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Free Update Out Today
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is receiving a free PSVR2 update, marking a significant moment for PlayStation VR2’s software library. The update, developed by Asobo, became available on May 1st starting at 10AM PDT across multiple time zones worldwide. The development team spent considerable time refining the virtual reality experience, drawing technical inspiration from Gran Turismo 7’s acclaimed PSVR2 implementation to ensure a polished and immersive flight simulation experience.
The flight simulator, originally released as an Xbox Game Studios title, has earned widespread critical praise since its launch. The addition of PSVR2 support extends the game’s reach beyond Xbox platforms, allowing PlayStation 5 users to experience the detailed flight simulation in full virtual reality. The free update approach ensures both existing players and new audiences can access the VR functionality without additional purchase requirements.
This release addresses a notable gap in PSVR2’s premium software library. A high-quality, fully-featured AAA title adding VR support significantly enhances the headset’s overall appeal and game catalog depth. The coordinated worldwide rollout across global time zones demonstrates sustained developer commitment to expanding the game’s technological capabilities and platform accessibility, reinforcing the title’s position as a major launch title for VR simulation enthusiasts.
