Raspberry Pi-based homebrew dongle enables full wireless Sony DualSense controller functionality on the PC including haptics

A homebrew solution using a Raspberry Pi Pico 2W has emerged as a workaround to enable full wireless DualSense controller functionality on PC. The primary issue addressed is that Windows’ native Bluetooth implementation lacks support for Sony’s proprietary haptic feedback protocol, meaning PlayStation 5 controller users on PC must either use a wired connection or sacrifice haptic functionality.

This new dongle-based approach allows wireless DualSense controllers to maintain complete haptic feedback by making the PC recognize the connection as wired while actually being wireless. Notably, the solution reportedly offers improved latency compared to standard generic Bluetooth dongles. The project has been released as open-source on GitHub and gained visibility through Reddit, enabling PC gamers to experience the DualSense’s full feature set—including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers—without connectivity compromises.
