Roblox’s daily users continue to drop as age checks slow growth

Roblox’s daily active user count has experienced a significant decline over the past six months, falling from 152 million in Q3 2025 to 132 million in its latest quarterly report—a loss of 20 million users. The company attributed the slowdown to “greater-than-expected headwinds” from its rollout of age verification systems on the platform. In North America specifically, the US and Canada saw a quarter-over-quarter decline of one million daily active users.

The age verification implementation represents a regulatory compliance effort by Roblox, reflecting industry-wide pressure to strengthen child safety measures on platforms with large youth audiences. The tradeoff highlights a tension between meeting regulatory requirements and maintaining broad user engagement, particularly for platforms that depend on substantial daily active user counts as key metrics.

Despite the user contraction, Roblox’s financial performance remained resilient, with quarterly revenue reaching $1.4 billion. This suggests that while the absolute user base has shrunk, the platform’s monetization has either improved or been sustained at higher levels among the remaining user base.
