The Boys Creator Insists He Did Not Cancel Spinoff Gen V as Angry Fans Flood His Social Media With Insults
Amazon has confirmed the cancellation of Gen V, the superhero spinoff of The Boys, ending the series after two seasons. The show, which premiered on Prime Video in September 2023 and followed young superheroes competing at Godolkin University, will not continue beyond its second season.
In response to the cancellation announcement, creator Eric Kripke has pushed back against accusations that he was responsible for the decision, taking to social media to defend himself amid a wave of criticism from disappointed fans. The backlash has led to an influx of negative comments directed at Kripke across his social media accounts.
Amazon and executive producer Evan Gold released a statement indicating that while they regret ending the series, the story will continue through other means. “While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon,” the statement read. This suggests that elements and characters from Gen V will be integrated into the main The Boys series and other projects within the broader superhero universe.
