Japanese Charts: No Amount Of Sci-Fi Shooting Can Trouble Tomodachi Life

Nintendo’s Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has maintained its dominance atop the Japanese physical game charts for a second consecutive week, continuing its strong performance in the region. The life simulation game sold an additional 178,533 physical copies during the week of April 20-26, bringing its total physical sales to nearly 744,000 units.

In second place, Pokémon Pokopia is steadily climbing toward the one million physical sales milestone. The Pokémon spin-off title sold 17,039 copies in the same week, pushing its total physical sales to 927,044 units—just over 72,000 copies away from reaching seven figures.

Making a strong debut is the Switch 2 version of Pragmata, which secured a top-three position in its first week on the Japanese charts. The action title arrived in Japan a week after its releases on other platforms, immediately establishing itself as a noteworthy new entry.

Beyond the top performers, several other titles continue to demonstrate the enduring appeal of established franchises in Japan. Mario Kart World and Animal Crossing: New Horizons maintained their presence on the charts, reflecting the staying power of Nintendo’s major franchises. Additionally, two Japanese exclusives made their debuts in the top 10: Matsurika no Kei -kEi- Tenmei kashokuden and Elminage ORIGINAL: Priestess of Darkness and The Ring of the Gods.

The chart positions underscore the diversity of Japan’s gaming market, with life sims, Pokémon titles, action games, and long-established franchises all commanding significant player and consumer interest.
