Battlefield 6 Players Divided After EA Opens the Door to Battle Pass Pre-Orders

EA and Battlefield Studios have enabled pre-orders for Battlefield 6’s Season 3 battle pass approximately two weeks ahead of its May 12 launch, prompting division among players. An in-game “Next Season Preorder” notification reveals two purchase options: a standard battle pass at 1,100 Battlefield Coins ($9.99) and a premium Battlefield Pro version.

The early pre-order window has sparked criticism from some players who view it as another monetization push from EA, despite the publisher’s recent improvements aimed at revitalizing the title. Over the past year, Battlefield Studios has added seven new maps, reintroduced naval warfare, and implemented other quality-of-life enhancements following the game’s troubled launch.

While seasonal battle passes and premium tiers are standard in modern live-service games, the extended pre-order period has intensified debate about EA’s monetization approach. The controversy highlights the ongoing tension between publishers’ need for consistent revenue streams and players’ desire for more consumer-friendly spending models.
