Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s Internal Resolution Detailed For Switch 2

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 3, 2026, with a free demo now available on the eShop. Director Naoki Hamaguchi has revealed technical specifications for how the game maintains performance across different play modes using DLSS technology.

The game employs dynamic resolution scaling to balance visual quality and performance. In handheld mode, the internal resolution fluctuates between a maximum of 1344×756 and a minimum of 672×380. When docked, the resolution ranges from 1920×1080 at its highest to 960×540 at its lowest. DLSS handles the upscaling from these internal resolutions, allowing the game to maintain visual fidelity while ensuring smooth performance regardless of the current processing demands.

This adaptive approach is standard practice for Switch 2 games, enabling developers to deliver console-quality visuals while maintaining consistent frame rates. The availability of a free demo provides players with an opportunity to evaluate the game’s visual performance and technical implementation firsthand before the June release.
