POKEBOOK Is Taking You Back To Kanto For Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary Year

Ninty Media has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Pokebook, a new hardcover retrospective dedicated to Generation 1 Pokémon games. The book, set to release in August 2026, marks a significant milestone in both Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebrations and Ninty Media’s publishing catalog, being the first entry in their ‘—BOOK’ line to focus exclusively on a single game series rather than a broader console generation.

The book matches the dimensions of Ninty Media’s previous releases, including Gamebook, Gamebook Color, Gamebook Advance, and NESbook. The hardcover features cover art by Jonathan Traynor and includes a foreword from Tim Gettys of gaming media outlet Kinda Funny.

The publication is primarily authored by longtime Ninty Media writer Joe Wescott, with contributions from multiple writers including Dani Cross, Nathan Ellingsworth, Jonathon Greenall, Jamie Moorcraft-Sharp, and Chelsea Reed. This collaborative approach follows Ninty Media’s established pattern of assembling knowledgeable voices for their retrospective gaming books.

By focusing on Gen 1 Pokémon—the original Red, Blue, and Yellow versions—Pokebook aligns with the franchise’s commemorative activities for the series’ three-decade milestone. The Kickstarter campaign provides fans an opportunity to pre-order the comprehensive retrospective before its summer release, continuing Ninty Media’s tradition of producing high-quality physical books celebrating gaming history.
