Resident Evil Requiem players mostly chose third-person gameplay with Leon, but were less decisive with Grace
Resident Evil Requiem’s director has disclosed player preference analytics regarding the game’s camera viewpoint options. The title, released in February 2026, collects player behavior data that developers use to understand design effectiveness and player decision-making.
In an interview with Denfaminico Gamer, director Koshi Nakanishi revealed that players predominantly selected third-person perspective when controlling protagonist Leon. By contrast, player preferences were more divided when playing as character Grace, suggesting less consensus around the optimal viewpoint for her sections. The game defaults to recommending first-person for Grace’s gameplay segments.
Platform-specific trends emerged from the analytics, with PC players showing a stronger inclination toward first-person perspective than other gaming platforms. This data highlights how player preferences can vary based on platform and character, informing potential adjustments to the game’s design and default recommendations.
The collection and analysis of player telemetry has become standard practice in modern game development, enabling studios to make informed decisions about gameplay features and design direction.
