EXCLUSIVE: Varsity High School Football Will Feature Real Schools

Varsity High School Football, developed by Spear Interactive and Pyramid Lake Games, has announced a significant partnership with K12 licensing, a division of the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC). The deal grants the upcoming football game the unprecedented ability to feature real high schools from across the United States, including their authentic identities, logos, and uniforms across all game modes.

This licensing agreement marks a milestone for sports gaming, as it represents the first time players will be able to use actual high school football programs in a video game. However, the partnership scope is limited to school-level assets; individual players are not included in the deal.

Spear Interactive owner Eric Spearin emphasized the significance of the partnership, describing it as “one of our few final steps in delivering the first true high school football experience in gaming.” This statement indicates the developer views authentic school representation as essential to creating a genuine high school football simulation that resonates with players.

The deal reflects growing industry interest in licensed content within gaming, demonstrating how developers increasingly pursue partnerships to enhance authenticity and player immersion. By securing comprehensive licensing through the CLC, Varsity High School Football positions itself as the definitive high school football simulation, potentially setting a new standard for how sports games approach licensing in the high school athletics space.
