Feature: Going Platinum: I Replayed This PS4 Metroidvania on Hard Mode and Loved Every Second
A retrospective on earning the Platinum Trophy for Guacamelee! 2 on Hard Mode celebrates the sequel as an outstanding Metroidvania title deserving of greater recognition in the genre. The reviewer praises both games in the series for their tight design, smooth controls, and well-balanced difficulty that strikes an ideal challenge level. While acknowledging that some of the Saturday morning cartoon-style humor may show its age, the author argues the series’ distinctive comedic tone is rare enough to justify its appeal. The sequel successfully builds upon the first game’s foundation with smart additions that expand the experience without adding unnecessary complexity.
