After 9 years and 2 new Mortal Kombats, it looks like NetherRealm is finally making Injustice 3

After nearly nine years without a new entry, NetherRealm Studios appears to be developing Injustice 3, according to reports that emerged this week. The revelation comes from a Warner Bros. Games employee’s resume listing Injustice 3 as a project they worked on, as reported by MP1st. This discovery suggests the superhero fighting game franchise is finally receiving a sequel, offering relief to fans who have been waiting since Injustice 2’s 2017 release.

The report aligns with earlier rumors that have circulated for over a year regarding the game’s development. Additional evidence has come from voice actors portraying Aquaman and Superman, who reportedly mentioned Injustice 3 to fans, further corroborating the project’s existence.

The announcement comes as NetherRealm Studios has been occupied with supporting Mortal Kombat 1, which launched to relatively strong sales but experienced a quicker-than-expected decline in post-launch content updates. The studio has released two new Mortal Kombat titles since Injustice 2, leaving the superhero fighting game franchise dormant during this period.

While the resume leak provides the strongest evidence yet for Injustice 3’s development, NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games have not officially confirmed the project. No details regarding platforms, release windows, or gameplay features have been disclosed.
