LEGO Unveils Sega Genesis Set, And It’s Super Cheap
LEGO and Sega have unveiled a new Sega Genesis console set, continuing the trend of gaming hardware nostalgia products. The set is scheduled for release on June 1, 2026, at an accessible price of $39.99 USD (£34.99 GBP / €39.99 EUR). The buildable model comprises 479 pieces and measures 16 cm wide, 12 cm deep, and 4 cm high upon completion.
The set commemorates the Sega Genesis, the iconic console released in 1988 that became known as the Mega Drive in regions outside North America. The Genesis went on to become one of gaming’s most significant platforms, selling over 30 million units worldwide and introducing legendary gaming franchises that remain influential today. The console was instrumental in popularizing gaming as mainstream entertainment during the late 1980s and 1990s.
Builders can customize their LEGO creation to represent either the North American Genesis or the European Mega Drive design. The set includes detachable controllers and decorative stickers, allowing for detailed customization and display options. Notably, Sonic the Hedgehog—the Genesis’s most iconic character—makes a secret appearance within the set, celebrating the console’s legendary game library.
This collaboration reflects growing commercial interest in gaming nostalgia and retro hardware, particularly among collectors and fans seeking tangible connections to gaming’s formative eras.
