Fnatic Practically Eliminated from LEC Spring Playoffs
Fnatic has been practically eliminated from qualifying for the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) Spring Playoffs after a 2-1 loss to Team Vitality. The organization currently sits in seventh place with a 3-6 record and no remaining matches in the regular season, making their playoff qualification mathematically impossible.
With the playoff spots now locked away from their reach, Fnatic’s path to Worlds qualification depends entirely on either winning the LEC Spring Playoffs despite missing the regular season or performing well at international events. The situation became more dire last week when the team was also eliminated from the EMEA Esports World Cup qualifiers, losing 2-0 to Solary, the EMEA Masters Champions.
The final playoff spot remains attainable for Movistar KOI, who can secure qualification by winning just one of their four remaining matches. Three of KOI’s upcoming games will be played on home soil in Spain during their regional roadshow, providing a significant advantage.
Despite the disappointing results, some positive signs remain for Fnatic’s future. The organization has demonstrated noticeable improvement throughout the split, though considerable work remains before matching the LEC’s top teams. With their playoff dreams extinguished in the regular season, Fnatic must focus on regrouping and preparing for the remainder of the competitive year.
