Why GTA 6 Is Not Coming To PC At Launch, And It’s Not Due To A PlayStation Deal
Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 19, 2026 exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no simultaneous PC release. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick clarified in a recent Bloomberg interview that the decision to prioritize consoles is not due to any exclusive PlayStation deal, but rather Rockstar Games’ strategy to focus on “serving the core” audience—which the company identifies as console players.
Zelnick emphasized that console gamers represent the primary consumer base for a release of GTA 6’s magnitude. However, the CEO acknowledged the apparent contradiction in this reasoning, noting that PC can account for approximately half of major game sales in the current market. While the company has not officially announced a PC release date, industry precedent suggests the game will eventually arrive on the platform following the console launch.
The Take-Two executive also discussed the intense pressure surrounding GTA 6’s release, describing the expectations as “terrifying” while outlining Rockstar’s ambition to “deliver to consumers something that’s never been experienced before.” The game has faced multiple delays since its announcement in December 2023, most recently being pushed from Fall 2025 to its current November 2026 release window.
