PGL Astana 2026 is the second iteration of the Counter-Strike esports tournament returning to Kazakhstan with an impressive $1.6 million prize pool. The event will run from May 9-17 and will feature the world’s top competitive teams, though notably without Vitality, one of the scene’s dominant organizations.
The tournament follows PGL’s established format with a 16-team Swiss bracket group stage running May 9-13. All group matches are Best of 3, with teams needing three series victories to advance to the playoffs and three losses resulting in elimination. The Swiss placement determines seeding for the subsequent stages.
The eight-team single-elimination playoffs are scheduled for May 15-17, with all matches contested in Best of 3 format except the grand final, which will be a Best of 5 series. This structure ensures that only the most consistent performers across the group stage can secure a playoff berth, while the single-elimination format heightens the stakes in the final rounds.
