PlayStation Seemingly Lands GTA 6 PS5 Marketing Deal

Sony has secured a marketing partnership for Grand Theft Auto 6, according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier in an interview with Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick. This marks a significant development for one of the gaming industry’s most anticipated releases.

When questioned about GTA 6’s current console exclusivity window on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S—with PC versions expected later—Zelnick clarified an important distinction: the console exclusivity period is not directly tied to Sony’s marketing agreement. This suggests the PS5 launch timing reflects other business considerations independent of the marketing deal.

Marketing partnerships in gaming are typically not formally announced. Instead, they manifest through promotional materials where specific consoles receive branding prominence in trailers and marketing assets. Given GTA 6’s massive importance to the industry, discussion surrounding its marketing arrangements has generated considerable interest.

The partnership reinforces PlayStation’s position as a key marketing partner for major AAA releases, even as GTA 6 launches simultaneously across both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
