Elderbrain, a publisher specializing in Dungeons & Dragons adventure campaigns, has announced Spawns of the Mindrender, an upcoming tabletop RPG campaign set to launch on Backerkit. The campaign’s promotional trailer combines 80s epic metal music with elements of Lovecraftian horror, establishing an ambitious creative vision.
Elderbrain has built a reputation for producing expansive, detailed campaigns. Their inaugural release, Crown of the Oathbreaker, spans more than 900 pages, demonstrating the publisher’s commitment to comprehensive worldbuilding and extensive content. When asked about the studio’s methodology for creating such massive campaigns, Elderbrain CEO Gabor Dan emphasized that community engagement is the fundamental driving force behind their creative process and success.
The publisher’s name derives from the Elder Brain, a creature from D&D lore that serves as the leader of mind flayer communities—a reference that Baldur’s Gate 3 players may recognize. This naming choice reflects Elderbrain’s philosophy of developing campaigns through collaborative community input, mirroring how illithids function as interconnected collectives. The approach positions the publisher as committed to leveraging community expertise and feedback throughout their campaign development.
