The Next Assassin’s Creed Sure Isn’t What We Expected
Ubisoft has announced an unexpected new entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise: a live stage production called Heredis. Rather than the video games that have defined the franchise over the past two decades, this theatrical project marks a shift into live performance.
Heredis is a collaboration with The 7 Fingers theater group and represents an original Assassin’s Creed story. The production combines acrobatics, parkour, theater, and historical elements into a single stage experience. Notably, the show is designed to be accessible to audiences unfamiliar with the Assassin’s Creed games, requiring no prior knowledge of the franchise.
The narrative follows a young man named Naël on a journey across different historical eras as he searches for his missing father. Accompanied by allies, Naël faces various trials throughout his quest, all framed within the theatrical medium.
This announcement reflects Ubisoft’s broader strategy of expanding Assassin’s Creed across multiple media formats. The franchise has already extended beyond games to include a feature film and an upcoming television series. Heredis arrives after the release of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced in July 2026, positioning it as the next major Assassin’s Creed project despite its unconventional format.
By creating an original theatrical work, Ubisoft introduces the Assassin’s Creed universe to audiences who may not engage with video games, while allowing existing fans to experience the franchise in an entirely new medium.
