New Kaiju Game Beastlink for PC and Console Announced

Beastlink is a newly announced multiplayer kaiju action game from developer Grove Street Games, set to launch on PC and console platforms including PlayStation 5. The game leverages the developer’s proprietary SuperDestruction physics-based system to create highly destructible sandbox environments packed with 250,000 destructible objects across detailed urban maps.

The gameplay allows players to assume control of both kaiju monsters and the hunters who pursue them, featuring vehicular combat and tactical survival mechanics. At launch, the game will roster four kaiju: the Horned Lizard, Bull Shark, Vampire Bat, and Mandrill. A unique core mechanic involves collecting in-game resources to establish a “BeastLink” connection with dormant kaiju, fundamentally shifting the gameplay experience from tactical survival and resource management to uninhibited city destruction.

The game’s ambitious physics destruction system and the sheer density of interactive environmental elements are expected to significantly challenge hardware performance, with notable frame rate drops anticipated as part of the gameplay experience. This approach draws comparison to titles like the Earth Defense Force franchise, where performance degradation is seen as an acceptable and even expected consequence of the large-scale destruction and physics calculations occurring on screen.
