FaZe Still Has Something to Play For This Season: frozen
Following a difficult 2025 season that saw them miss the prestigious IEM Cologne 2026 Major, FaZe is approaching IEM Atlanta 2026 with a reshaped lineup and new priorities. The departure of in-game leader Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen has forced the organization to recalibrate, but their most critical objective extends beyond tournament performances or accumulating VRS ranking points for next season’s invitations.
FaZe’s immediate focus is retaining star player David ‘frozen’ Čerňanský, who has become the most sought-after talent in competitive Counter-Strike. Throughout 2025, frozen attracted interest from rival organizations including NAVI, but ultimately remained with FaZe. The Slovak player’s decision to continue with the organization is now considered more important to FaZe’s competitive future than any trophy at IEM Atlanta or Stake Ranked Episode 2.
IEM Atlanta 2026, taking place May 11–17 in Atlanta, Georgia, provides the platform for FaZe to demonstrate their renewed potential. The event features a $1 million prize pool and marks the beginning of ESL Grand Slam Season VII, following Vitality’s historic second Grand Slam victory at IEM Rio 2026. The tournament format includes two groups of eight teams competing in double-elimination GSL-style brackets with all matches as best-of-three series. Group winners advance to the semi-finals, while second and third-place finishers enter the quarter-finals in the subsequent single-elimination playoffs (May 15–17).
The tournament represents a critical moment for FaZe to stabilize their roster and prove their competitive viability.
