THQ Nordic Announces Open-World APRG ‘Gothic III Classic’ For Switch 2
THQ Nordic has announced the upcoming port of Gothic III Classic to the Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for release on November 24, 2026, priced at 29.99€. The announcement continues the publisher’s efforts to revive Piranha Bytes’ classic fantasy RPG series on modern platforms.
Originally released in 2006, Gothic III is an open-world action RPG set in the fantasy world of Myrtana. The narrative follows a nameless hero whose legend grows as they navigate a world in upheaval. The realm is under siege by orc invaders from the north, forcing King Rhobar to mount a final defense of Vengard, humanity’s former stronghold. The conflict is compounded by internal divisions, with rebel factions offering resistance while the Hashishin of the south openly collaborate with the occupying forces.
This Switch 2 port represents another milestone in THQ Nordic’s revival of the Gothic franchise, which has seen renewed attention through both re-releases and new releases in recent years. The port brings the classic open-world experience to Nintendo’s latest handheld system, introducing the title to a contemporary audience.
With the November release date approaching, fantasy RPG enthusiasts and Gothic series fans will soon have the opportunity to explore Myrtana and navigate the choices that will determine the world’s fate.
