Highlander Set Photos Reveal First Look at Henry Cavill and Karen Gillan Filming 16th-Century Flashback Scenes in Scotland
Henry Cavill and Karen Gillan have been spotted on set in Scotland filming flashback sequences for the upcoming Highlander reboot, directed by John Wick’s Chad Stahelski. The new film reimagines the 1986 cult classic that originally starred Christopher Lambert as immortal swordsman Connor MacLeod and Sean Connery as his mentor Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez.
In the remake, Cavill takes on the lead role of MacLeod, whose character was born in 1518. Recent set photos reveal the production includes scenes depicting the character’s 16th-century origins in the Scottish Highlands, maintaining a key element of the original film’s structure through historical flashbacks. The casting of Cavill and Gillan represents a significant star power lineup for the project, which aims to bring fresh energy to the enduring immortal warrior story.
