The New Murderbot Book Is Out Today as Author Martha Wells Signals the End of the Series
Martha Wells has released Platform Decay, the eighth book in her Murderbot Diaries series, marking what may be near the end of the beloved science fiction franchise. In an interview with Polygon, Wells revealed she currently has only one more Murderbot book under contract, and that installment could be the last. She stated, “I only have one Murderbot book on contract right now. I’ve got some vague ideas for it, but I’m not really sure what it’s going to be yet. And that may be the last book.”
While the book series approaches its conclusion, the property is gaining new life through adaptation. Apple TV+’s Murderbot television series is beginning to find momentum, with season 1 receiving positive critical reception including an 8/10 review from IGN, which praised the show’s execution of the source material.
