Remedy says Control has now sold over 6 million lifetime copies and reaffirms Control Resonant is still “on track” for a 2026 release

Remedy Entertainment’s Q1 2026 financial report confirms strong performance for its flagship title Control, which has now surpassed 6 million copies sold across its lifetime. The developer’s upcoming sequel, Control Resonant, remains on track for release in Q2 2026, with development proceeding smoothly on its approximately €50 million budget.

The report comes amid significant leadership transitions at the studio. New CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon, appointed in early 2026, has outlined a strategic direction focused on building premium games with “structurally more efficient budgets” and avoiding rapid expansion. This represents a recalibration following the commercial failure of FBC: Firebreak, the online multiplayer shooter whose poor reception led to former CEO Tero Virtala stepping down and development ceasing in March 2026.

Despite this setback, Remedy has committed to keeping FBC: Firebreak online for players who continue engaging with it, with infrastructure costs described as non-significant. The decision reflects the studio’s desire to maintain goodwill despite the game’s inability to attract a sustainable player base.

Remedy’s financial performance in Q1 2026 shows revenue of €13.1 million, down 1.9% year-over-year, with operating profit of €1 million, declining 23% compared to the same quarter last year. The studio attributes its stability to continued success with Control, royalties from Alan Wake 2, and ongoing FBC: Firebreak revenues. CEO Gaudechon has emphasized that the studio is now “the right size for the ambitions ahead,” signaling a focus on quality over expansion and a goal to break into Asian markets while maintaining its creative identity.
