Kinforge dev Seeker Entertainment is furloughing staff
Seeker Entertainment, the independent studio developing the creature-collector action RPG Kinforge, has paused production and furloughed its staff, citing a “devastating fundraising environment” as the primary reason for the difficult decision.
Despite demonstrating strong commercial and critical potential—including a “fantastic vertical slice,” positive playtester feedback, millions of video views, and tens of thousands of Steam wishlists—the studio found itself unable to secure continued funding. The team had previously extended their initial seed funding runway by over a year, but ultimately reached a point where further extensions were no longer possible.
Seeker Entertainment, which has a core team of eight members, stated it would continue exploring fundraising opportunities despite the challenging current landscape. However, the studio has encouraged its staff to actively pursue other employment opportunities given the competitive nature of game industry hiring.
The announcement reflects broader struggles within the independent game development sector, where even projects with promising reception and engagement metrics face significant obstacles in securing capital.
