Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Director Open to Explore DLC Possibilities
The director of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, Naoki Hamaguchi, has expressed openness to releasing story DLC for Part 3 of the trilogy, marking a shift from the previous installment’s approach.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the second part of the trilogy, did not receive story DLC, with Square Enix prioritizing development of Part 3 instead. This decision was made in response to fan feedback wanting the final game sooner. In contrast, the original Final Fantasy 7 Remake from 2020 received post-launch content, including the enhanced Intergrade version in 2021 which featured the Episode Intermission story expansion.
According to Hamaguchi, the team had considered developing story DLC for Rebirth but ultimately chose to focus resources on Part 3. For the final chapter, however, the director indicated DLC remains a viable option contingent on sufficient fan interest and enthusiasm. This represents a more flexible approach compared to Rebirth’s treatment, allowing Square Enix to gauge community response to Part 3 before committing to additional content development.
