MS Flight Sim Adds Mission Where You Water-Bomb A Fire In Australia To Honor Local Firefighters
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has released World Update 21: Australia, adding new cities, airports, and dozens of points of interest to the game. The update includes a special new mission designed to honor the New South Wales Rural Fire Service (RFS), the world’s largest fire service comprising nearly 70,000 volunteers.
The mission features a water-bombing gameplay mechanic that simulates the techniques real Australian firefighters use to combat bushfires. This tribute acknowledges the critical work of the RFS, which faces ongoing challenges from bushfires—a persistent threat in Australia. The update comes in the context of the devastating 2019-2020 bushfire season, which captured international attention. Those catastrophic fires burned millions of acres, caused over 30 deaths, and resulted in the loss of more than 1.5 billion animals.
By including this mission, Microsoft Flight Simulator aims to raise awareness and honor the volunteer firefighters who risk their lives protecting communities and property from fire.
