Supercell acquires Metacore to add Merge Mansion to its “live games portfolio”
Supercell has announced the acquisition of Metacore, adding the developer’s flagship game Merge Mansion to its live games portfolio. The move represents a significant expansion of Supercell’s catalog with an established, revenue-generating title.
Merge Mansion, launched in 2020, has achieved substantial commercial success. The game boasts over 60 million downloads and has generated approximately $700 million in revenue. A merge-2 mystery puzzle game, it engages players in renovating a neglected family estate while uncovering hidden secrets. Metacore’s team pioneered the merge-2 puzzle category itself, building a dedicated player base that has remained engaged for over five years.
Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen expressed optimism about the game’s future, stating that “Merge Mansion’s best days are still ahead” and that it “could be loved by even more players.” This indicates Supercell’s intention to invest in the game’s growth and development under its management.
The acquisition reflects Supercell’s strategy to expand its portfolio of live service games by acquiring proven titles with established audiences. By bringing Merge Mansion into its ecosystem, Supercell gains immediate access to a successful game, an experienced development team, and the opportunity to leverage its resources to reach new players.
