New Xbox Boot-Up Sequence Goes Green

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has announced a revamped boot-up sequence for Xbox Series X|S consoles, set to launch on May 13, 2026. The new animation marks the first significant update to the console’s startup sequence in six years, replacing the original 2020 boot animation with a fresh design.

The updated boot sequence prominently features the newly redesigned Xbox logo in vibrant green, marking a strategic return to the classic “Team Green” branding that resonates with longtime Xbox fans. The animation goes textless, removing the previously displayed “Xbox” text. While the original boot sequence subtly incorporated green elements, the new version fully embraces the color as a core visual identity.

Accompanying the visual refresh is an updated boot-up sound. Sharma shared the audio on social media, revealing that while the new sound maintains similarities to the original Xbox Series boot sequence, it features notable tweaks—described as higher-pitched with subtle modifications from its predecessor.

This boot-up redesign is part of a broader brand overhaul initiated by Sharma since assuming her role as Xbox CEO. Since taking the helm roughly two months ago, she has implemented several changes aimed at revitalizing the Xbox brand, including the introduction of the new logo last month and various other initiatives to reconnect with the gaming community. The rebrand represents a deliberate shift away from the minimalist aesthetic that characterized Xbox in recent years, instead leaning into nostalgia and the brand’s heritage.
