AMD X970E Chipset Rumoured for Computex Reveal With Support For Faster CUDIMM and CAMM DDR5 RAM, Ahead of New Ryzen CPUs
AMD’s next-generation X970E chipset motherboards are expected to be unveiled at Computex in June, according to Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Biostar. The flagship 900-series chipset will maintain compatibility with the existing AM5 socket, ensuring that Ryzen 7000 and 9000 series CPUs can be used on the new platforms.
A major highlight of the X970E boards will be support for faster DDR5 memory modules, specifically CUDIMM and CAMM variants. CUDIMM introduces an on-board client clock driver to enable higher memory speeds compared to standard DDR5, while CAMM offers a more compact form factor with a compression connector designed for laptops and OEM systems.
Intel’s Z890 chipset and 200-series Core Ultra processors already support both memory types, though current motherboard adoption of CAMM remains limited. AMD’s inclusion of these technologies on the X970E represents the company’s effort to align with Intel’s platform capabilities and provide users with higher memory bandwidth on upcoming Ryzen processors.
