“Another World,” the directorial debut of animator Tommy Ng Kai Chung, has achieved major recognition in the film industry. The animated feature, based on Naka Saijo’s novel “Sennenki,” originated as a 14-minute short film that garnered significant attention at international film festivals in 2019, ultimately securing funding for expansion into a full-length feature.
The film has achieved notable accolades, winning the Golden Horse Award for Best Animated Feature—Chinese-language cinema’s most prestigious film award. It holds the distinction of becoming Hong Kong’s highest-grossing animated film of all time. The feature will debut in North American cinemas on June 5 through New York-based distribution company GK.
