CCP Games rebrands as Fenris Creations following sale from Pearl Abyss
CCP Games, the Icelandic developer behind the long-running space MMO Eve Online, has rebranded to Fenris Creations following its independence from South Korean publisher Pearl Abyss. The studio was sold back to its management team in a $120 million deal completed this week, approximately eight years after Pearl Abyss acquired it for $225 million in 2018.
The company has confirmed that the transition will maintain operational continuity, with no restructuring or layoffs planned. Its leadership team, existing products, and development roadmap will remain unchanged. The studio will continue operating from its headquarters in Vatnsmýrin, Iceland, with active offices in Reykjavík, London, and Shanghai.
As part of the rebrand, Fenris Creations has established a research partnership with Google DeepMind. Google has also acquired a minority stake in the developer as part of this collaboration. The partnership marks a significant strategic move for the formerly independent studio as it returns to self-governance under its own Board of Directors.
