Magic: The Gathering’s Hobbit Is Now Available to Preorder
Wizards of the Coast has announced that Magic: The Gathering’s next Universes Beyond set, The Hobbit, is now available for preorder with an August 14 release date. This marks the latest crossover in the Universes Beyond line, following the successful Marvel Super Heroes announcement.
The Hobbit set builds on the momentum of The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth, which was the first Universes Beyond set to be legal in the Modern competitive format. Drawing from J.R.R. Tolkien’s prequel novel, the set features cards designed to authentically represent iconic characters, locations, and story moments from the source material.
Each card has been carefully crafted to balance mechanical functionality within Magic’s game systems alongside fidelity to Tolkien’s original worldbuilding. The set will include multiple card versions of beloved characters, allowing collectors and players to choose their preferred illustrations and mechanics. The entire product suite is available for preorder, with specific product details expected to follow.
