Asus chases Elgato with its own secondary touchscreen display
Asus has announced the ROG Strix XG129C, a 12.3-inch touchscreen monitor designed as a secondary display to accompany a larger primary gaming monitor. The compact display directly competes with Corsair’s Xeneon Edge, a 14.5-inch secondary monitor in the same market segment, matching its 720p resolution while offering a smaller form factor.
The XG129C features a touchscreen-enabled IPS panel with strong color accuracy—supporting 125% of the sRGB color gamut and 90% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. These specifications make the display suitable for gaming and creative work alike. Asus has precedent in this product category, having offered a similar 14.1-inch secondary display on its 2020 ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 gaming laptop, signaling the company’s broader commitment to the auxiliary display space.
Secondary gaming displays are becoming increasingly popular among enthusiasts and content creators, serving multiple functions—from displaying chat and streaming controls to overlaying game statistics, system monitoring, or communication applications alongside primary gaming content. The 12.3-inch form factor offers a more compact alternative than some competitors, potentially providing better desk flexibility while maintaining sufficient screen space for secondary tasks.
With this release, Asus is positioning itself as a major player in the growing secondary gaming display market, leveraging its gaming brand identity and touchscreen technology to compete against established peripheral manufacturers.
