I love that Crimson Desert’s latest updates have effectively transformed it into a birdwatching simulator

Crimson Desert, Pearl Abyss’s action game, has received a bird-taming update introducing the “Sotdae of Bond,” a bird feeder mechanic. The feature allows players to tame various bird species including mountain condors, ducks, and sparrows. Notably, sparrows demonstrate unexpected utility by effectively looting corpses during gameplay.

The update includes legendary bird variants: a flaming Phoenix, a clockwork Iron Eagle, and a Blue Parrot. These rare creatures represent the highest rarity tier in the bird-taming system.

Arriving roughly a month after the game’s launch, the bird-taming feature exemplifies Crimson Desert’s evolving design direction. Pearl Abyss has continuously updated the game since release, refining mechanics and softening some of its earlier, more controversial design decisions. This latest addition has humorously transformed the game’s nature, with observers noting it has effectively become a “birdwatching simulator” alongside its core gameplay loop.

The addition of bird-taming mechanics represents another gameplay system shift for the action game, providing players with new progression goals and activities in the live-service title’s post-launch phase.
