Nintendo FY sales soar 98.6% to $14.6bn following launch of Switch 2
Nintendo reported extraordinary financial results for its latest fiscal year, with net sales surging 98.6% to $14.6 billion, driven primarily by the successful launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. The new console exceeded the company’s expectations for hardware sales during its first year on the market, significantly outperforming the launch cycles of Nintendo’s previous hardware generations.
Alongside its strong financial performance, Nintendo announced price increases for the Switch 2 across multiple key markets, including Japan, the United States, Canada, and Europe. The company attributed these increases to “changes in market conditions,” specifically citing ongoing memory component shortages and other supply-chain related factors. Price adjustments are also being applied to the original Switch lineup in Japan and Nintendo Switch Online subscription services.
These increases have been factored into Nintendo’s fiscal year 2027 forecast, which anticipates lower hardware sales as the console market matures from the Switch 2’s launch surge. The announcement demonstrates Nintendo’s confidence in the Switch 2’s market position while managing investor expectations for the year ahead.
