Polygon published a guide on how to obtain cosmetic items in the roguelike game REPO. Cosmetics, which include hats, bows, jackets, jeans, bikinis, and other decorative items like a mustache or hamburger hat, serve as rare loot that allow players to customize their robot character’s appearance.
According to the guide, cosmetics are found by locating cosmetic boxes, which spawn randomly throughout levels. These boxes remain extremely rare in the game’s first three levels, making early-game cosmetic acquisition unlikely. However, players’ chances of finding cosmetic items significantly improve starting from level four and beyond.
The guide frames cosmetics as desirable loot despite their rarity, emphasizing that collecting these items allows players to stand out visually, even when facing threats like the Cleanup Crew during gameplay.
