Resident Evil Requiem’s new game mode is here, free to download, and it looks like bloody chaos

Capcom has shadow-dropped a free new roguelike minigame mode for Resident Evil Requiem called “Leon Must Die Forever.” The mode unlocks after completing the main story and challenges players as Leon S. Kennedy to fight through multiple waves of familiar enemies and environments before confronting the final boss, Victor Gideon, within a time limit.

The gameplay features progression through several recognizable campaign locations including Wrenwood’s main street, the Rhodes Hill Care Center, and Raccoon City. As players advance through the roguelike stages, they unlock exclusive enhancer abilities that modify Leon’s combat capabilities. The mode includes multiple difficulty levels with an extreme high-difficulty option and is designed to emphasize fast-paced action and replayability.

This release marks the first major free DLC for the game and diverges from fan expectations of a traditional Mercenaries mode, which has been a staple addition in previous Resident Evil titles. Capcom had previously teased the minigame’s arrival, and its shadow drop release came with a brief trailer on social media. The mode is immediately available on PC and PlayStation platforms. Capcom has also indicated that additional story-focused DLC is in development for future release.
