The World Series of Warzone Isn’t Dead And Gone After All
The World Series of Warzone (WSOW), a major Call of Duty esports tournament circuit, is returning after reports of its shutdown earlier this year. In March, the tournament was reportedly cancelled following a legal dispute with Major League Baseball over the use of the “World Series” naming convention. Activision appeared to have abandoned the circuit in favor of other esports initiatives at that time.
However, Activision has now confirmed through a social media post that the WSOW is still active and will make a comeback. The tournament will resume after the current season of the Warzone Resurgence Series concludes. Activision’s announcement did not address the legal dispute with Major League Baseball that had prompted the initial shutdown, leaving the circumstances of any resolution unclear.
The World Series of Warzone has been one of the most prominent competitive circuits for Call of Duty: Warzone, attracting top esports teams and players. Its return represents Activision’s continued commitment to competitive gaming within its flagship first-person shooter franchise.
