Explosive co-op shooter Aliens: Fireteam Elite gets a sequel, and it’s coming soon

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, the sequel to the 2021 co-op shooter, has been officially announced and will release this summer 2026 across multiple platforms. Developers Daybreak and Cold Iron Studios revealed the game on May 7, 2026, through an exclusive trailer showing marines battling Xenomorphs aboard a space station.

The most significant expansion is the jump from three-player to four-player co-op, allowing larger squad formations for tackling alien hordes. The sequel promises “deeper strategies and smoother coordination,” with a variety of new classes, weapons, and tactical possibilities. A new Specialist endgame class is being introduced, alongside an updated horde mode and expanded customization options that let players mix and match weapons, abilities, and classes for unique playstyles.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, with crossplay support confirmed. The game aims to build on its predecessor’s foundation while delivering an experience “worthy of the Alien franchise,” emphasizing both action and horror elements.

The original Aliens: Fireteam Elite, despite being considered underrated, built a dedicated community around its accessible yet challenging co-op gameplay. The sequel’s announcement comes ahead of other Alien franchise gaming releases, including the highly anticipated Alien: Isolation 2, positioning Fireteam Elite 2 as an earlier entry in the franchise’s gaming revival.
