Slay the Spire 2 beta patch cuts Act 3 boss Doormaker, introduces Bestiary
Slay the Spire 2 has received a major beta patch that removes one of the game’s most challenging Act 3 bosses. Doormaker, a memorable but mechanically complex enemy encounter, has been cut from the game and replaced with a new boss called Aeonglass.
The development team at Mega Crit acknowledged that while Doormaker presented interesting tactical decisions during combat, the boss exceeded their intended complexity threshold for the game. This decision reflects the team’s ongoing effort to balance challenge with accessibility in the roguelike deckbuilder experience.
In addition to the boss replacement, the patch introduces a highly requested Bestiary feature, allowing players to review and track information about encountered enemies. The update also includes numerous other balance adjustments and tweaks currently being tested in the beta branch before wider release.
The changes are exclusive to players enrolled in the beta branch, allowing Mega Crit to gather feedback and test refinements before rolling them out to the full player base. This iterative approach to development has been central to Slay the Spire 2’s post-launch support and community engagement.
