Gears Of War Creator Lays Out Vision For A New Game, And It Sounds Intriguing

Cliff Bleszinski, the veteran game designer who created the Gears of War franchise, has shared a new game concept he still wants to develop called “Hollow Point.” The creative vision blends disparate influences—described as “John Wick meets Carrie by way of Lovecraft Country”—suggesting a blend of action thriller, supernatural drama, and cosmic horror.

The game is designed as a two-player cooperative experience set in a rustic New England town during autumn. Bleszinski, who grew up in New England, is drawing on his regional roots for the setting. The two players would have asymmetrical gameplay: Player 1 controls an ex-Marine character equipped with heavy weaponry and explosives, while Player 2 plays a young woman with psychic and telekinesis abilities. This design creates distinct playstyles and complementary mechanics for cooperative gameplay.

Bleszinski shared the concept online, indicating that despite being retired from full-time game development, he remains interested in realizing this project. The announcement reflects his continued creative ambitions and desire to explore new game concepts beyond his iconic work in the third-person shooter genre.
