Friday the 13th Prequel Series Crystal Lake Gets Release Date
Peacock has officially announced that the long-awaited Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake will premiere on October 15, 2026. The announcement marks a significant milestone for the horror franchise, which has been absent from new productions for 17 years following the 2009 reboot.
The series will feature Linda Cardellini in the role of Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mother, while child actor Callum Vinson will portray young Jason Voorhees. The supporting cast includes William Catlett, known for his role in Black Lightning. Vinson will simultaneously appear in Amazon’s upcoming God of War television adaptation as the character Atreus.
Set as a prequel to the original Friday the 13th film, Crystal Lake will explore the Voorhees family and events leading up to Jason’s drowning in the titular lake and the subsequent tragedies that follow. The first season will consist of eight episodes, though Peacock has not yet confirmed plans for additional seasons.
The series’ development has been notably protracted, with the project languishing in legal disputes for over a decade before finally reaching production. This release represents another attempt by the franchise to reset its narrative canon and introduce the story to contemporary audiences.
