Xbox Game Pass “starter edition” now officially bundled with Discord Nitro memberships, with more benefits coming soon

Microsoft and Discord have officially announced a partnership that bundles Game Pass Starter Edition with Discord Nitro subscriptions at no additional cost. The announcement follows a leak that revealed the collaboration last month.

Discord Nitro, available at $9.99 monthly or $100 annually (for the standard tier only, not the basic $2.99 option), now grants subscribers access to Game Pass Starter Edition. This streamlined version of Xbox Game Pass offers a library of over 50 downloadable PC and console games, including titles like Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, Grounded, Overcooked 2, Hades, and Cities Skylines, with additional games planned for future additions.

The Starter Edition also provides 10 hours of monthly Xbox Cloud Gaming, allowing subscribers to stream compatible games across multiple devices. Members can additionally earn up to $25 annually in Xbox Store rewards.

The partnership is part of a broader initiative called Nitro Rewards, which integrates third-party benefits from partners including Microsoft, Logitech, and SteelSeries. Discord Nitro subscribers now receive bundled discounts on gaming peripherals from Logitech and SteelSeries alongside their Game Pass access.

Discord has rolled out platform updates that simplify discovering and launching Game Pass titles directly within the Discord interface, improving the user experience for Nitro members exploring the expanded game library.

The announcement was confirmed by Xbox leadership, including newly-installed Xbox boss Asha Sharma, who previously indicated the two companies were collaborating on fresh offerings for their respective audiences. This represents a significant deepening of the partnership between the two major gaming platforms, reflecting broader industry trends toward cross-platform partnerships and bundled subscription services.
