Fortnite Dev Understands The Fear That “AI Is Going To Take All Our Jobs”

Epic Games has acknowledged widespread concerns in the gaming industry about artificial intelligence replacing jobs, while reaffirming that the company’s approach to AI integration is focused on improving efficiency rather than eliminating positions. Stephanie Arnett, a senior external development manager at Epic, made these comments during a panel discussion at Gamescom Latam, where she revealed that Epic is actively exploring various AI tools to support the development of its games.

Arnett directly addressed what she described as “everyone’s biggest fear” — that AI adoption would result in job losses across the gaming industry. She emphasized that this is “not our goal,” and that Epic’s actual intention with AI integration is to enhance team productivity and make development processes more efficient.

The statement comes at a time when the gaming industry, like many other sectors, is grappling with questions about how artificial intelligence will reshape the workforce. Epic’s position suggests the company sees AI as a tool to augment developer capabilities rather than as a replacement for human creativity and labor.
