Ghost in the Shell 2026 release date revealed in new trailer for the Science Saru anime

Bandai Namco Filmworks announced a new Ghost in the Shell anime adaptation, scheduled to premiere on July 7, 2026. The series represents a complete retelling of Masamune Shirow’s landmark cyberpunk manga, rebooting the franchise following several previous adaptations including the 1995 film and sequel.

The anime is produced by Science Saru, the studio behind acclaimed projects like Devilman Crybaby and Inu-Oh, with direction by Touma Kimura (Mokochan). This pairing signals a commitment to high-quality animation and artistic vision for the cyberpunk classic.

The series will have broad global distribution through Prime Video, which holds exclusive worldwide streaming rights outside of China and Russia. Simultaneously, the anime will air on Japanese television via Kanai TV and Fuji TV’s Ka-Aniva! anime block, bringing the franchise to both longtime fans and new audiences. Episodes will release weekly every Tuesday at 11 PM Japan Standard Time, corresponding to 9 AM EST on Prime Video.
