Vintage Disney-like shooter Mouse P.I. For Hire has sold so well its publisher has made all invested money back

Mouse: P.I. For Hire, the debut game from developer Fumi Games, has exceeded commercial expectations following its April launch, selling approximately 730,000 copies across all platforms within its first month.

The stylish first-person shooter, styled as a 1930s cartoon with vintage Disney aesthetics, launched to positive reception from both players and critics. Publisher PlaySide announced the impressive sales milestone during an investor presentation, revealing that the game has already recouped all of its publishing and marketing costs, as well as milestone payments to the developer. This rapid cost recovery is particularly noteworthy for a debut indie title.

Sales are evenly split between console and PC platforms, with the game available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and Steam. The strong performance extends beyond initial sales, with three million players having wishlisted the game, indicating significant potential for continued revenue generation in the coming months.

The commercial success has already impacted PlaySide’s financial outlook. The publisher has upgraded its fiscal year 2026 revenue projections from $34.7 million to $36-38 million, attributing the increase primarily to Mouse: P.I. For Hire’s stronger-than-expected unit sales and ongoing wishlist conversions across PC and console platforms.

With millions of wishlisted players and a successful initial reception, Mouse: P.I. For Hire appears positioned for sustained commercial success beyond its impressive debut month.
