My Nintendo Store Does The Social Network Meme With Name Change
Nintendo is rebranding its digital storefront, dropping “My” from the name. Starting May 27, 2026, the My Nintendo Store will simply be called Nintendo Store. The company announced the change across multiple regional social media accounts, including in the UK, Germany, Australia, Japan, Spain, and Korea.
The rebrand is a playful reference to the famous meme from “The Social Network” film, where Justin Timberlake’s character tells Mark Zuckerberg to drop “The” from “The Facebook” because “it’s cleaner.” Nintendo is applying the same logic to removing “My” from their store branding.
Despite the name change, Nintendo assures customers that there will be no changes to the service, products, or functionality of the store. Users will continue to purchase digital Switch and Switch 2 games, buy accessories, and redeem rewards using Platinum Points through the same platform.
The My Nintendo Store was introduced in February 2022 as a replacement for the company’s previous digital storefront. Less than four years later, Nintendo is simplifying the branding while maintaining the underlying infrastructure and service offerings. While the change has been confirmed for multiple regions, official confirmation for the North American storefront is still pending.
