Arc Pro B70 Benchmarks Show The “Big Battlemage” Arc B770 Graphics Card We Never Got
Intel’s Arc Pro B70, a $1,000 workstation graphics card, has undergone gaming benchmarks that reveal its true consumer-facing performance potential. PCGamesHardware tested the GPU, which features the full-size G31 Battlemage die—the same architecture originally intended for the Arc B770 discrete GPU that never reached consumers due to escalating VRAM costs.
Testing shows the B70 delivers respectable mid-range gaming performance. It comfortably outperforms the lower-tier Arc B580 and sits nearly on par with Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and AMD’s RX 9060 XT in most games, though it falls notably short of the RTX 5070 and RX 9070. The benchmark results, while not exceptional, demonstrate that this workstation-class GPU remains viable for consumer gaming when appropriate drivers are installed.
Several factors work in the B70’s favor beyond raw rasterization performance. Intel’s XeSS upscaling technology provides performance headroom for demanding titles, and the card’s generous VRAM allocation offers longevity as game requirements continue to grow. However, reviewers characterize the results as “disappointing and instructive”—a recognition that despite housing powerful silicon originally earmarked for a consumer product, the B70’s gaming capabilities remain modest relative to its specification and $1,000 price point.
